God's call to us is and has always included care for the poor. At reunion this year there were enough contributions made to Outreach International that Rio Grande Mission Center became a "Partner." What this means is that we have, for this year, "adopted" one specific area, Wayrapata, Collpa Cocha, and Sapilica, Bolivia.
As a result of the over $500 raised at reunion you have provided for:
1) irrigation systems to enable residents to harvest out of season,
2) the digging and building of wells and holding tanks for both drinking water
and agricultural use,
3) the repair of a road leading to Yanatama from Wayrapata, enabling farmers
to get their produce to market and visit the health center,
4) a bakery cooperative formed by ladies in Yanatama for additional livelihood,
5) a pig-raising test project,
6) the planting of fruit trees for food, livelihood and soil preservation in
Sapilica and Aguades, and
7) access to aid to buy good-quality seeds.
All of this for only $520? As you can tell, a relatively small gift goes a long way in impacting many lives. Thank you for your generosity. Surely God must be pleased with the gifts of love that so many of you contributed.
